PetSmart Ich Killed My Tank
Where do I even start? We purchased a tank ($399), a few fish, rocks and sand, lights, filters, etc etc...for a total of around $500.
All was well. My 5 year old was delighted to have her own pets. She earns another fish. We go buy one.
All is well still. She earns even more fish weeks later. So now we're at about 10 fish. 2 of the same breed die.
Hmm strange. Test the water, all is fine. Go to the store to return them...oh we bought them 21 days earlier so no refund. We question about all these things what we could have done wrong and there are no answers.
So we buy 3 fish to replace the 2 that died. Suddenly our blue fish looks terrible. The next day, he's floating and 2 other fish are dead. We go online and search through all the symptoms...then we notice our once back mollies were speckled white...ICH!
So we immediately go to the store to tell them what's going on, we buy Ich killer, do all the necessary steps. 4ish days later....we're down to TWO fish. We had about 14 fish at our highest capacity. This morning, 2 fish were dead.
It's now mid afternoon and another one is dead. So now I have a heartbroken 5 year old who thinks SHE was the cause of the fish dying and is convinced she's a terrible person, no matter how many times we try and explain what happened. I've contacted the store MANY times telling them what happened and to please test their water! What was I told?
"that's up to corporate" --- oh ok, so you don't want to test YOUR water on your own? Riiiight.
I REALLY believe you need to ask corporate for YOU to test YOUR water. Moral of the story....NEVER BUY FROM PETSMART!

It concerns me that you are not mentioning the species of fish. How can you possibly care for fish properly if you don't know what they are. Also if you had done your research you would know you're supposed to quarantine new fish...
Ich is not a fast killing disease and is quite easy to cure.
Also ich isnt something you can "test for"...
How many frickin gallons does your tank hold? You can't have that much fish in some tank sizes.
They'll fight over the food and each-other. It's not your daughter's fault, it's YOUR'S.
55 gallon tank and each fish was a schooling fish, no more than 1" big. This is NOT too many fish. 3 employees even told us it wasn't.
Additionally, what does your comment have to do with ich killing my fish?
