I went to a local Petsmart to buy some of the black friday specials.

When walking around the store I saw 2 shoppers with a cart loaded of a special price cat litter. I also witnessed one of them opening one of the cat litter box on the floor. As I did not know what was going on I decided to ask what was the good deal about that item. They told me that besides the sale price a $ 5 gift coupon comes inside of each box. I then decided to get one as well and open to see myself if the $ 5 gift coupon was inside as I know sometimes containers or bottles can be opened without breaking the seal.

As I was opening the container the 2 shoppers walked away leaving the opened container behind. Also as I was opening the container one of the store associates ( Sara ) walked by and shouted that I would not be able to use the gift coupon today anyways. Regardless of the rude way she approached me I decided to place the gift coupon back inside of the container and get 3 other containers and continue to shop.

A few minutes later the same associate ( Sara ) showed up in front of me to accuse me of opening a container she had with her and taking the gift coupon. I was shocked with her attitude. I tried to tell her that the container I did open was inside of my cart and that I was going to pay for it. She threatened to call her manager. I told her once again that she was making a mistake and that I did not care to have her manager talk with me.

As I tried once again to continue shopping associate Sara and her manager approached me and in front of a few customers and she once again accused me of opening the container and taking the gift coupon. I was speechless and embarrassed with the whole situation. I tried explaining once more to Sara and the mananger that i was just making sure the coupon was in the container however associate Sara continued to humiliate me in front of the other customers. Her manager just tried to tell me that I would not be able to redeem the gift coupons today anyways. I was'nt even interested in using the coupon at that time anyways. I was only checking to see that the coupon did actually come in the container as the other customers had told me.

I never felt so insulted and humiliated in my entire life. I am a good person who works hard. I would "NEVER" allow myself to steal a $ 5 gift coupon.

I left this store in tears and as a result, Petsmart has lost my business and last but not least Petsmart associate Sara and her manager seem to not have any customer service skills whatsoever.

Associate Sara's behavior was wrong, rude and unacceptable.

Seriously? I think any sales associate would see someone opening bags and assume the other ones are there. She shouldn't have yelled at you, but then again, Black Friday gets sales associates yelled at all freaking day and it's hard to keep sane.

I also like how everyone on here calls themselves honest and hard working. So honest that you opened a bag of litter to get a damned $5 coupon? Yeah.

Also, don't use quotation marks for emphasis. They're not meant to (remember grade school?) and if you do, it just makes you look like you're being sarcastic, as if you're telling us that you WOULD allow yourself to steal a coupon but are hiding it in sarcasm. WTG.

Also, I need to find me some Pissed Employee sites, but the servers are probably down from all the load, haha. Also, in my above post, I meant "the other ones that are there have been opened by them as well". I don't feel like waiting until the post limit is cleared to make an edit.

Why do some people think it is okay to open products in the store. I had a customer do this once with a 5lb bag of Natures Recipe dog food to get a $5 off cooupon out of the bag to use on his purchase of a 30lb bag.

I approached him as he was dumping the food all over the ground to find the coupon. He didnt think he was doing anything wrong!

I told him he just destroyed a $12 bag of dog food for no good reason. Somebody ends of paying for that $12......all the honest customers when prices are increased to cover it.

Wow. I work at Petsmart down in south Texas and i could not even imagine talking to someone that way. Yes, you should not have opened the package but things could have been said and done other ways.

I'm assuming this accusation is you taking the coupon for yourself. I agree with you that you shouldn't accuse like that. But this isn't the issue. It's the fact that you OPENED it.

You don't open bags you didn't buy no matter what. It's not your property. What were you going to do if there wasn't a coupon? Just leave the bag opened there? How would you feel if you were the one trying to sell something and you find a customer ripping open an item they didn't buy yet? And finally, did you really expect them to treat you nicely after doing such an act? You're the reason why a couple of businesses down the line lose any form of profit they could have received from that bag.

Why on earth would you think it is ok to tear open a package? Do you have any idea how much money is lost to a business by people like you that tear open a package and then want to buy one that has never been opened? Do you realize that it is people like you that drive prices up?

If you don't like it, stop shopping there. I am sure all of the employees would be grateful if you never came in the store again.

I agree with you about opening the box but my point after ALL is about how Petsmart associate and manager deal with the situation.

Regardless of my mistake of opening the box this doesn't give anyone the right to accuse me without real prof.
