I bought 2 bags of simply nourish dog food. My wife opened the bag yesterday and scooped out a bowl of food for our dog.

After eating it our dog had diarrhea through the night. Today I opened the container and found cocoon like structures on the individual pieces of dog food bits and things stuck to the sides of the container, flying bugs, and crawling kind throughout the entire container.

I call my local Pets mart where I buy the food for my three dogs every week and they were so rude to me. I canโ€™t believe the store manager recommended this food for my dogs 4 months ago and I switched to it I have never had a problem with other food and I now have three dogs that are sick.

Monetary Loss: $156.

I bought two different boxes of dog treats tonight. Both of them were infested with bugs.

Something that appeared to be an insect, plus worms and webs throughout both boxes of bones. Considering they were different brands, I think we have a sanitary issue.

Sooo sorry that u got bugs... we have them in Nashville Smart and I've switched to another food.

Always open food after u walk out the door.... then walk right back in.

2017 I had a bag of dry dog food from Simply Nourish also infested with what looks to be Indian Meal Moths. After feeding for less than 2 weeks my cupboard became filled with the small flying moths.

I leave the bag open as I piece feed my animal 3-4 times daily. They are now in my bedroom and clothes closet. Purchased at Frys grocery in Ahwatukee, AZ.

Another man found the same bug in dog food 2013, So disgusting!

pet food production allows for more "filth" in products than human food and does not require as stringent testing. indian meal moths are a fact of life with dry pet food along with pasta, cereal, etc.

your bugs may not have been entirely petsmart's fault. as a rule of thumb, i always freeze dry pet food for 3 days before opening the bag.

Yes, i always face this problem with dog too, but i no solution with it until now. may be it cause from food that choose for my dog .

same thing happpened to me..2 years ago. Freakin moths, took forever to get rid of them in my house, ended up throwing away hundreds of dollars of cereal, rice, flour to try to get rid of the ones that got out of the bag and mated. good luck

OMG. I just had the same issue!!!

SAME thing.

My dog has intestinal parasites now. And it cost me a fortune at the vet!

Same thing just happened to us. We have a 14 year old border w/enough issues. Food was not out of date.

Just opened a bag tonight and have the same problem. YUK!

Caught it before we gave it to the dogs. This is the FIFTH time in the last four months we have found bugs in Petsmart dogfood and dog treats.

Yes, take it back! One of the things that I like about Petsmart is they will take anything back.

And if they GM at the store level wont take it back call their 800 number. I am a fan of Blue or Nutro for our dogs...little bit costly, but they are way healthier since we switched...GOOD LUCK, and hopefully your dogs feel better soon

As an exterminator, I am guessing that the dog food was infested with "Indian Meal Moths"...Those cocoon things are the pupal phase, and the flying ones are the adults. The crawling ones are the larvae...that is the "feeding" stage.

In my opinion, sounds like the dog food was beyond date.

Take it back asap. :x
