I felt my dogs fur and there was kind of like a lump I just thought she was dirty so I scheduled an appointment at petsmart to get her bathed and brushed and cleaned .... Day after I felt the lump again in the same spot and so I started looking through her hair and it was a tick ...

What I don't understand is how the groomers could miss that ? If they were actually washing her they would of felt it and saw that it was a tick and informed me of shampoos, creams, etc.

To put on my dog ..... They are clearly not doing a good job or Care when they wash pets

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Location: Lancaster, California

It is possible to not find a tick on a dog. PetSmart has a hydrosurge bathing system and it is not all hands on.

The hydrosurge does the bathing for you. If the dog is afraid of the dryer, you won't see close to the skin as the dog will need to be cage dried. I am not excusing the bather- I would be upset if one of my bathers overlooked a tick due to a substandard bath but just want you to know it can happen. One question: When they checked the dog in, did they ask all the questions about health, temperament and flea products?

Did you inform them you felt a lump and ask them to check it out?

Well they made it seem like they did everything hands on from bathing her to hair drying her and brushing her ... All they asked me was if she was healthy and her sex , age, and name . No I did not inform them that there was a lump because I thought it was just a clump of mud because she plays in the mud

Always inform the groomer of any concerns you may have. That includes lumps.

I don't know the store you went to but I know we are very thorough in my salon.

How did they make it seem like they did everything hands on?

I refuse to pull ticks. Knowing the pet parents that come into our salon, they would try to sue the company or me for making their dog sick if I didn't get the head out when I pulled it.

That being said, a lot is going on in the salon and I work on SEVERAL dogs a day, so I will not forget a small thing such as one tick on a dog. That doesn't meant that I am not doing my job well.

I am a groomer and I can understand your concern but groomers are NOT required to take a tick off your dog! We are actually suppose to show you where the tick is and have you take your dog to the vet so a vet can remove the tick and test for lime disease!

Lots of groomers will remove a tick as a courtesy to you so you won't have to pay a vet bill to remove a tick which is costly to do at a vet. So no it's not a groomers job to remove ticks off your dog. You need to take some blame as well like why isn't your dog treated for ticks? Most dogs get a monthly flea and tick spot on the neck to prevent ticks and fleas from getting on them!

What made you think a groomer is required to take a tick off your dog? Also, maybe she didn't feel the lump while shampooing. Does your dog have other moles or bumps? Maybe she felt it but though it was a mole.

Either way GROOMERS are not required to take ticks off your back! We are not vets sweetheart!

I did not say they should of removed the tick, I wouldn't expect them to remove a tick there just groomers ..... I said that they should of informed me of the tick because there was no way in *** they did not feel the lump because if they were going by there mottos of hands on care for your pet or pets are family they would have tooken a closer look and saw that it was a tick .... And for the treatment my dog does get monthly drops but not everything is 100% effective just like puppy vaccines aren't 100% effective on making sure your dog doesn't get a disease or virus ....
